A new creative oasis has emerged in the heart of Lismore. The Artisans Table is owned and operated by the talented duo Victoria Collignon (Lines by Vic Textured Art) and Jess McLean (Crafted Terrazzo), who decided to pool their artistic talents and entrepreneurial spirit to create something special for the community.
The space is lovely and light, with a long timber table perfect for group classes. Various local artists' wares are for sale along the walls, which Vic and Jess intend to expand.
Keys for the space were collected on 1 Sep, and The Artisans Table opened on 23 Sep, a rapid turnaround thanks to Vic's husband Chris, who did the fit-out. Previously, Vic was hiring spaces to run workshops from.
"I really needed a base because my house was just saturated with it (artworks). Very organised, but saturated and I would have no dining table for three days while I was drying art - it was just everywhere," Vic says. "So I was really dreaming of this."
In the textured art classes with Vic, you will learn how to use plaster on canvas to create textures that add depth, dimension, and character to your art. Jess' terrazzo workshops involve crushing shells and mixing with eco-resin to create beautiful homewares. The studio is also home to various workshops and events run by other makers and artists. Current classes include macrame and screen printing.
Whether you're an adult looking to explore your creative side, a group of friends seeking a unique bonding experience, or parents looking for an enjoyable activity for their kids, there's a class for you. In addition to group regular social classes, The Artisans Table takes private bookings that can accommodate up to 30 people, making it the perfect location for birthdays, celebrations, team building or just a fun weekend activity.
Vic and Jess have successfully created a beautiful space where creativity can flourish. Whether you're a seasoned artist or someone who has never picked up a paintbrush, this studio invites you to explore, experiment, and embrace your inner artist.
"I've had people come of all ages, people coming in groups, with their moms or sisters or friends or people coming by themselves," Vic says. "I really tried to make it such a beautiful, nurturing experience. I really want people to experience art. And I tried to keep it simple enough that anyone can have a good go and go home with something nice, but then you can also be really free to explore different things. It's really fun."
