The start of work to remove the Terania Street rail bridge in North Lismore begins on Monday.
Transport for NSW advises that Terania Street will remain open to pedestrians and light vehicles during the initial site preparation work to remove the rail-over-road bridge.
Work starting Monday, 26 August, will be carried out from 7am to 6pm on weekdays and from 8am to 1pm on Saturdays and is expected to be complete by Friday, 20 September, weather permitting.
Motorists may experience delays of up to 10 minutes travel time during this period.
Restrictions for heavy vehicles over 4.5 tonne gross vehicle mass (GVM) from entering the restricted road approaching the rail bridge on Terania Street will continue during this work.
The ‘No Right Turn’ restrictions into and out of Peate Street means vehicles entering Peate Street from Terania Street or exiting Peate Street to travel westbound will still need to detour via Pine, Crane and Tweed streets.
A detour for all heavy and light vehicles is available via Wilson Street, Elliott Road and Ballina Road.
Heavy vehicle drivers should plan their journey and allow extra travel time, drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
