Teens charged over alleged robbery, car theft at Coraki

Detectives have charged two teens following an investigation into an armed robbery in Coraki yesterday.


About 2.45pm yesterday (Monday 15 April 2024), police were called to a home on Queen Street, Coraki, following reports a SUV had been stolen.



A short time later, police received a report of an armed robbery at a takeaway store on Queen Elizabeth Drive, Coraki.


Officers attached to Richmond Police District arrived and were told a group of young people allegedly threatened staff with a machete and crowbar before stealing cash and leaving in the stolen vehicle.



Police established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the incident.


Following inquiries, Police found in bushland the stolen SUV in Corkai, a short time later police arrested two 16-year-old boys.


They were taken to Lismore Police Station where they charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.



They were refused bail to appear before Lismore Children’s Court today (Tuesday 15 April 2024). Where they were both further refused bail to appear before Children’ Court on Friday 26 April 2024.


Inquiries are continuing.
