Teenager charged after alleged robbery at Goonellabah shops

A teenage boy has been charged following an alleged robbery at Goonellabah last week.


About 12.15pm on Monday 12 May 2025, police were called to a shopping village at Goonellabah following reports of a robbery.



At the scene, police were told a male allegedly threatened to harm a man and demanded they withdraw $500 from an ATM.


The man withdrew the money where it was allegedly taken by the male.



Following extensive inquiries by police, a 15-year-old boy was arrested in Casino on Saturday, 17 May 2025.


At the time of his arrest, he was allegedly in possession of a large kitchen knife.



He was taken to the Casino Police Station where he was charged with robbery, and custody of knife in public place.


He was refused bail to appear before a children's court yesterday (Sunday, 18 May 2025), where he was granted conditional bail to appear before a children's court on Friday, 30 May 2025.
