Teams to end the year on a high in Hooker League

Goonellabah Workers Sports and Marist Brothers will both be looking for wins leading into the Christmas break in the LJ Hooker League Cricket Competition.

Round 5 of the competition will be played this Saturday and conclude on Saturday 17 December, with Round 6 commencing again on the 7 January.

Goonellabah will host Pottsville at Oakes Oval, with the home side coming off a solid win over the Ballina Bears and Pottsville having the bye in the previous round.

Pottsville have played a strong brand of cricket and currently have two wins from their three matches, with Goonellabah undefeated after four rounds.

Marist Brothers will host Cudgen at Mortimer Oval (Rec 8) after not managing to get any play in their match last week at Oakes Oval against Alstonville after the pitch was too wet.

Cudgen come off the back of a mixed start to the season, defeating Tweed Banora Colts last week.

Both teams will boast different teams across the match after a number of players and coaches return from the Australian Marist Cricket Carnivals representing Trinity Catholic College and St John's Woodlawn.

Both matches will start at 1:00pm.
