A man was found dead after a car accident in Eltham on Saturday. 

Lismore Police District Chief Inspector Darren Cloake said the accident happened on Eltham Road at 4.30pm on Saturday, December 21. 

“Emergency services were advised by witnesses that a single vehicle had been found to have collided with a tree,” Chief Inspector Cloake said.

“A 45 year old male was found deceased in the Jeep Patriot.

“The male is an American citizen and in Australia on a student visa.

“No formal identification has been completed at this stage. We are in the process of liaising with the US consulate and arrangements are being made at the moment.

“The investigation is subject to a formal report from the coroner.”
