Storm fall in Sunshine Conference decider

The Lismore Storm Women's team have fallen at the last hurdle in the Sunshine Conference Grand Final.

The team travelled south to take on the Coffs Harbour Suns on Saturday with confidence after pushing the previously undefeated Suns in the major semi final two weeks ago.

Both teams started strongly and the match was fairly even leading into halftime at 30-23.

The Suns knuckled down defensively in the second half and piled on the points at the other end, eventually taking the match 78-39.

Emily Simpson top scored for the Storm with 9 and Taya Cottee added 8 before leaving the court with injury.

Jordon Woods top scored for the Suns with 24 and Jessi Reeves added 21 in the big win.

The Byron Bay Beez took out the Men's division after defeating the Valley Braves 95-72. The Beez were the dominant team in the competition all year but the Braves took it to the northerners before they edged clear in the final quarter. Harley Kent top scored for the Beez with 26 points.
