Storm at home in Sunshine Conference

The Lismore Storm will be at home in Round 2 of the 2024 Sunshine Conference on Saturday.

The Storm Women will open their season against the Ballina Breakers at 3pm and the Men will follow at 5pm when they play their second match of the year against the Breakers at the Lismore Basketball Stadium.

The Men won their opening match against the Casino Kings 137-31 last weekend and will look to add a second win against Ballina, who also defeated Casino last weekend 101-45.

Both Storm teams will need to dig deep on Saturday afternoon as the Breakers will provide plenty of opposition in both divisions.

A number of players from both women's sides combined earlier in the season to play in the NSW Waratah League in a combined "Far North Coast" team, with players and coaches being familiar with each other.

The Men will then back up on Sunday, when they travel to Yamba to play the Trawlers at the Raymond Laurie Sports Centre at 11am.

Coach Jacob Richardson has plenty of firepower in his lineup for the double header, with 6 players last week in double figures in scoring.

One interesting battle to watch out for is in the paint, where returning big man Zac Knight will be up against Ballina's Riley Gollan, who has moved across from Byron Bay in the offseason.

Ballina Guard Steven Cray will also clash with ex-Beez teammates Toby and Jye Barlow.

A big crowd is expected on Saturday from 3pm.
