Lismore businessman Steve Krieg today launched his campaign to become the next Mayor of Lismore City Council in Molesworth Street this morning.

Mr Krieg leads the largest council election ticket in Lismore history with 14 candidates including some big names in Lismore business including Peter Colby, Jeri Hall, Andrew Gordon, Electra Jensen and Andrew Bing.

Mr Kreig said his team provides a positive alternative whose focus is to get our town back on track.

“It is clear that our current Council is not working, which is why we need change – and we are the change!” Mr Krieg said.

“For too long our Council has been underperforming and our team is not prepared to sit back and watch this continue.”

“We are focused on getting the basics right, and making sure we have the opportunity to grow our town.”

“Fixing our roads, creating jobs, and making life better for families are just some of our priorities.”

“This means supporting projects like the Dunoon Dam, Lismore Square redevelopment, flood mitigation, and ensuring more families can build homes in our region.”

“We have a dynamic group of locals who are ready to start delivering and serving our community.”

“This is the most professional and qualified council ticket that has been assembled in a very long time.”

Steve told the Lismore App his goal is to win a majority for this years September council elections, "I would like to get five councillors and myself as Mayor, this is the only real way you can affect a change that ween in the town."

"I think council as a whole has become far too political and this is about serving the needs of the local community and what they need," Steve added.

With LCC struggling with its finances in recent years, the budget will be a main consideration for Steve and his team to regain control of the financial situation.

"Our number 1 priority is fiscal responsibility. None of us are really aware of how good or how bad it is but the reason we are running our ticket is because we have a combined hundreds of years of experience managing every level of business, small, medium and large so getting the books balanced is number 1 and then it's about serving the needs of the people with the money that we have available."

Two items that stand out on the list above are fixing the roads and the Dunoon Dam.

"Roads are another top priority," Steve explained, "As it should be with any council. You want to make sure that the infrastructure for your town is up to standard."

"Water security is a really important. These are multigenerational issues not just for a three year term. I want my children and their children to have safe and sustainable drinking water and how that is a achieved has to be explored."

"It's not just about a new dam or putting tanks in every house, it's about how we can achieve multigenerational infrastructure for our town," Steve concluded.
