Two Lismore business stalwarts along with a few others will launch their campaign for Mayor and Councillor later this morning.
La Baracca and Ristretto owner Steve Krieg will run for Mayor of Lismore while R Gordon and Son Real Estate owner Andrew Gordon will run on the 'business' ticket.
While the full list of prospective candidates will be revealed after 10 o'clock this morning, it does appear to have some heavy hitters in the business world.
On his Facebook page last night Steve said, "As a small business owner, I hear from people every day about the need to change Lismore City Council. For too long our town has been falling behind when we should be surging ahead. That's why I've decided to run to become the next Mayor of Lismore."
"I have put together a fantastic group of locals who are ready to serve alongside me on council. Together, we can get Lismore back on track."
One of those locals, Andrew Gordon told the Lismore App he has a thousand reasons to run for council, "I am here to support Steve to run for Mayor. As a small business member, he has been affected by the bad decisions this council has made over the last five years."
"I am here to help him and his endeavours for change."
The slogan for the campaign will be "We are the change".
The launch of the business tickets comes after the launch from the Sustainable Future Party, the Labor Party and The Greens in recent weeks. The move will certainly spice up the September elections with the Mayoral candidates being Elly Bird, Vanessa Ekins, Darlene Cook, Big Rob and now Steve Krieg.
The Lismore App will have a full report following the official launch of the 'business ticket' later this morning.
