Staggering 407 rounds of golf played in three daysMurray Edwards, co-owner of M and T Tyre (Bridgestone) Centre, won the A Grade singel stroke event at Lismore workers Golf Club on Saturday.

With all other sport banned due to the coronavirus, hundreds of players flocked to Lismore Workers Golf Club last Thursday, Friday and Saturday.


Four hundred and seven rounds of golf were played over the three days. Due to the threat of coronavirus, there are no flags, no rakes in bunkers and strict social distancing rules.


Lismore Turf Club CEO Scott Jones had a great weekend. He won the B grade on Friday and had the best combined score across the Friday and Saturday competitions.

Jonathan Voll won the single stableford on Thursday from 101 competitors with a score of 42. Denis Crowley (40) finished runner-up with Brett Kerrison (39 c/b) third and David Henderson fourth (39).


The next day, 131 people played the single stroke Oaten's Monthly Medal. The A Grade winner was Anthony Magarry (66); runner-up Mick Condon (67). The best gross score was by Jack Robertson (70).

The B Grade winner was Scott Jones (65); runner-up Gordon Dutton (66). The best gross score was by Darren McClelland (83).

The C Grade winner was Clinton Kenn (65); runner-up Howard Hope (66). Travis Jackson (89) had the best gross score.


The single stableford event attracted 174 players on Saturday, with Murray Edwards, co-owner of M and T Tyre (Bridgestone) Centre, taking out the A Grade event.


Edwards (38) trumped in A Grade, with Phil Molloy (37) runner-up. Robert O'Reilly (43) won B Grade, with Anthony Goulding (38 c/b) runner-up. Jason Franke (40) won C Grade with Ray Lewis (37 c/b) runner-up.


"A big thank-you for your efforts in following the new guidelines and adapting to the conditions," Lismore Workers Golf Club President Tim Gilmore told members. "I would just remind you not to gather around the tables outside the pro-shop or at the cart shed after your round. Please hand your card in, put your cart away and head home."
