St Helena Tunnel essential maintenance causes diversion tonight

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Pacific Motorway at Ewingsdale to carry out essential maintenance at the St Helena Tunnel.

To reduce the impact to motorists, work will be carried out at night. The tunnel will be closed to all traffic from 7pm to 5am from Monday, 24 to Wednesday, 26 February, reopening at 5am Thursday, 27 February 2025, weather permitting.

Northbound traffic will be diverted onto Hinterland Way at Byron Bay Road (Bangalow exit), rejoining the highway at Ewingsdale, and southbound traffic will be diverted onto Hinterland Way at Ewingsdale Road (Byron Bay exit), rejoining the highway at Bangalow.

Motorists are advised to allow up to five minutes of additional travel time for the diversions, which are suitable for all vehicles. Drive to the conditions and follow the direction of signs and traffic control.

Routine maintenance of the St Helena Tunnel is carried out every three months and involves a range of measures such as inspecting the various operating and safety systems.

Transport for NSW thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
