A solid first half of rugby gave Lismore plenty of hope, when they took on Ballina at Quays Reserve on Saturday.
The Greens travelled east to take on the Seahorses with a young side, looking to cause an upset on the premiership hopefuls.
The Greens started well and in a strong defensive effort, held the home side to just two tries in the first stanza.
A try to Loui Rubbo, converted by Harry Gillett gave the Greens hope, going into the break 15-7 down.
Unfortunately for Lismore, they could not maintain the intensity for the final 40 minutes, with the Seahorses scoring six second half tries to take the match 46-7.
In the other local match, the SCU Gold Rats again struggled against the top sides, with a 93-12 loss to Casuarina.
Both sides are at home next week, with Lismore taking on Lennox Head and the Gold Rats hosting Byron Shire at Maurie Ryan Oval.
