The long awaited opening of the Sherwood Hotel, formerly Tommy's, has been announced so mark it down on your calendars.

Saturday March 13 is when the doors will swing open for the first time to the public.

Owner John Elsey finally received his long awaited liquor license from Liquor & Gaming NSW last week which enabled John to pick a date. The process was a lot slower than first thought with expectations of being open for Christmas last year.

"I am super happy to get it open in March," John commented.

The fit-out is nearly complete with only the finishing touches left to complete.

One of the final items on the agenda is the hiring of staff to be trained for opening day.

Kitchen

• Sous Chef
• Apprentice Chef

Bar

• Two spots left for weekend bar staff
