Southern Cross University is setting out to create a vision for its Lismore campus, which is truly exceptional and will set the tone for regional education in Australia.
It is seeking input from staff, students and the broader community as part of a master planning process to imagine an educational precinct of the future, and to think about the role it could play in the social and economic renewal of Lismore and Northern Rivers over the next decade.
“The Master Plan will help us build towards a reimagined campus that embraces a range of exciting frontiers including remarkable student experience, revolutionary university teaching, world-class research, on-campus high schools, vocational courses, professional services and student accommodation,” said University Vice President (Strategy) Jack Williamson.
“Input from University staff, students, tenants, the wider community and other stakeholders – such as service providers, business and civic leaders – is critical because this is as much about the fabric of the Northern Rivers as it about Southern Cross University.”
“Southern Cross has been in Lismore since 1994, and we see a thriving future ahead of us for decades to come.
“The consultation process will help us explore the question, ‘What could an education precinct of the future look like in Lismore, and what leading role does it play in the renewal of Lismore and the Northern Rivers over the next decade?’
“We see a bold, long-term future for our presence in Lismore, and we want our community to be central in how that vision comes to life.”
People are invited to share ideas for the Draft Master Plan at one of two pop-ups next week, in the Lismore CBD and at the Lismore campus. No registration is required.
