Santa’s Wonderland returns as Carols in the Heart goes virtualSanta's Wonderland in 2019: Santa with Evie Dee and Renni Darke.

There is just over 5 weeks until Christmas Day 2020 and It looks like it will be the most wonderful time of an extraordinary year.

Lismore City Council have said Covid isn’t going to stop our community from coming together and celebrating the Festive Season – and Santa agrees!

The Jolly Man in Red is once again coming to town to take up residence at Santa’s Wonderland at a new location in the Regional Art Gallery from December 9 to December 20.

The Lismore Workers Club is sponsoring Santa’s Wonderland, as well as Carols in the Heart, which will be held virtually with a livestream on Council’s Facebook page on Sunday, 13 December between 7pm and 8.30pm.

“Santa’s Wonderland and Carols in the Heart are two of the most popular events on Lismore’s calendar, and we were determined to find a way to hold them despite COVID-19,” Lismore City Council’s Events Coordinator Leanne Clark said.

“We have some great things planned for this year’s festive season, and we would particularly like to encourage people to join our online Community Choir which will sing the final song for Carols in the Heart.

“It’s as simple as emailing gpevents@lismore.nsw.gov.au for a copy of the backing track and instructions on recording and uploading your Carol.

“We also have two special guests at this year’s Lismore Workers Club’s Carols in the Heart - Miruisa who has been called “the Unconventional Pop Star” and Tim McCallum who performed at the Gabba during the AFL Grand Final.

Last year, Miruisa released the album A Salute to The Seekers that debuted at No. 1 on the ARIA Charts and was in the Top 20 on the Jazz and Blues charts for three consecutive months.

Tim is a classically trained tenor and beside performing in front of 30,000 at the Gabba, he competed on The Voice in 2015.

They will be joined by some of your favourite local performers, with a very special visit from Santa and Mrs Claus.

“Shoppers of all ages from the young to the young at heart are also invited to step into this magical Santa’s Wonderland world and enjoy fun festive activities between 9 December and 20 December,” Mrs Clark said.

Santa’s Wonderland will be open Wednesday to Sunday between 10am and 2pm, and after school on Thursday between 4pm and 6pm.
