Santa's Wonderland brings magic to Lismore CBD

After a tough year, seeing Santa sitting in a sparkling Christmas Wonderland is a beautiful way to bring some magic back into Lismore.

Today, the red-suited, white bearded man, took residence in his chair in the centre of a new Wonderland - this year at the Lismore Regional Gallery in the downstairs events space.

It’s the third year that Santa’s Wonderland has come to Lismore – and Lismore City Council events coordinator Leanne Clarke said people of all ages are invited to come and visit Santa until December 20.

There’s a post pox on site where letters to Santa can be sent and Santa’s elves are on hand to help out.

You can also expect to hear Christmas carols being sung, bringing festive cheer to the Quad.

Santa’s Wonderland will be open Wednesday to Sunday, between 10am and 2pm, and after school on Thursday between 4pm and 6pm.

You can have your photo taken with Santa, but bookings are essential to allow for Covid-safe allocated time slots.

Other activities for children include a kids’ activity sheet where children are encouraged to traverse “the block” searching shop windows for the elves – and a small prize will be supplied at Scoops & Candy when complete.

Leanne said as part of this year’s event, families will expect changes to Santa interactions, and placement for photos.

“There may be specific seats or benches for families to sit on and a contact free Santa interaction,” she said.

“There will be bollards, directions for movements, floor signs and specific entry and exit points with a QR code scanning station.

“The space will see regular cleaning shifts from ‘Santa’s Elves’ so as to ensure a safe return for Santa to the North Pole.”

There are even Santa themed hand sanitiser stations.
