Rovers impress against Celtics

Richmond Rovers have stamped their authority on the FNC Men's Premier League with a 3-0 victory over Souths on Friday night.

The match was a tight, hard fought game early in the first half, with both teams searching for an advantage.

It wasn't until four minutes before halftime that the deadlock was broken, after Ethan Allen hit the back of the net from a Rovers corner.

The second half started similar to the first with both teams playing with Finals intensity.

There was hope for Souths early in the second half after Rovers keeper Chris Jones left the field with an injury but striker Jono See extended the Rovers lead minutes later after a cross to the top of the box which he slammed home.

The home side then put the game beyond doubt with ten minutes left in the match when a deflection from a corner gave Rovers a 3-0 victory.

The win takes Rovers four points clear at the top of the table with just one round remaining. The top four has now been locked in with Rovers, Souths, Alstonville and Byron Bay all confirmed as semifinalists in Men's Premier League.

Souths and Rovers will clash again next Saturday in the final round of Far North Coast competition.
