Lismore had a variety of places young people could go to enjoy themselves with their friends and families, however, since the catastrophic floods in February this year, most of these places, the Cinema, PCYC, Ten Pin Bowling, the Skate Park and Rollerworld have all been affected, some will still be closed for months to come and one is never coming back.
Young people need safe spaces to socialise with their friends, let off some steam and enjoy a range of activities and pursuits they may be interested in. So it's pleasing to see that through collaborative efforts Rollerworld is much closer to opening again.
Rollerworld owner Craig Newby told us the community can expect to be skating around the rink in the first week of December, just in time for school holidays and the Xmas break.
"What the guys from Disaster Relief Australia and Resilient Lismore did in 2 days, has saved us a month of rebuild work," Craig told the Lismore App.
