Lismore Richmond Rovers are creating history by entering the FFA Cup.

Rovers' Premier League coach Todd Jones said he took a proposal to the club's board and it was accepted.

"It's something we have never done before, it will get everyone excited and you don't know far you will go," said Jones.

"It is a great way to start the season and it will help prepare the lads for the Premier League."

Rovers have been drawn at home to Grafton United, who finished third out of four teams in North Coast Football's Second Division North last season, in the Northern NSW Football FFA Cup Round 2. The match will be played at Neilson Park, East Lismore, on Sunday, 23 February, at a time still to be determined.

The winners of the match then travel to Sawtell FC, the Scorpions, who will be part of Football Mid North Coast and North Coast Football's inaugural Coastal Premier League.

This season, Rovers is the only Football Far North Coast side to enter the FFA Cup. FFNC club Bangalow Soccer Club reached the last 16 of the NNSW conference of the FFA Cup before losing to North Coast Men's Premier League club Urunga Raiders in extra-time last May.
