At a time when Lismore is closing in on an anniversary that will trigger trauma in a large section of our community, the Lismore App has a Feel Good February story that will make you smile and restore your faith in humanity.
Lismore App reader Yasmin loves shopping for vintage clothing for herself and her baby. This week Yasmin went into The Salvos store on Carrington Street to try her luck.
When Yasmin found a few items she went to the counter to pay with her baby starting to become unsettled.
As she put her items down an elderly man approached her and said, "This is for you" and handed Yasmin an envelope then proceeded to walk out of the store.
As Yasmin's baby was upset, she drove home and didn't think any more of the envelope she received until the next morning.
Upon opening the envelope, Yasmin discovered a very kind note plus two $50 notes.
The note read:
Hello,
This is a gift for you to allow you to enjoy something different.
I am an old man who has struggled in early life bringing up six children, Now at the end of my life I have been fortunate to have saved enough to allow my children to receive a good inheritance.
I hope you can put this to good use for yourself, your child and/or your children.
God bless.........Ted
Yasmin went back to The Salvos and asked if they knew the man or had seen him before offering envelopes to other customers, she was told they did not know of the man.
Yasmin and her husband Kyle thought this heartwarming, generous gesture was too nice to let slide so they contacted the Lismore App to say a public "Thank You" to Ted.
You have not only surprised a local family with your kind gesture, but you have also given our community a smile and proved that there are good people walking the streets next to us each and every day.
God bless Ted indeed.
