The Marist Brothers Ramettes are into the NRRRL Ladies League Tag Grand Final after a hard-fought Elimination Final at Crozier Field on Saturday.
The match opened with a flurry of points, with Cudgen winger Ashley McPherson opening the scoring after just 3 minutes, crossing in the right corner.
Just 3 minutes later, Ramettes fullback Riley Alvos managed to take advantage of good field position to cross the tryline, with Sammy Hughes converting to give the home side the lead 6-4.
The match then settled into a rhythm, with both sides playing in the middle half of the field after a number of handling errors and penalties saw momentum change several times.
With no addition to the scoreline, the Ramettes went into the halftime break with a slight advantage.
Marist Brothers Zariah King attacks the Cudgen defensive line.
Two minutes into the second half, Hayley McAnelly grubbered into the in-goal and followed her kick, planting it down to give Marist Brothers a 12-4 lead after Shataya King converted.
With just 5 minutes to go, Cudgen's Madison Parbery crossed close to the posts and converted her own try to reduce the margin to just two at 12-10.
Hayley McAnelly puts the ball down for the winning try to send the Marist Brothers Ramettes into the Grand Final.
A penalty then marched the Ramettes up field, which was then advanced another 10m for dissent, giving King the opportunity to put her side up by 4, which unfortunately sailed wide, but it took time off the clock and in a fast paced final few minutes, the Marist Brothers side managed to hold on an secure a spot in the NRRRL Ladies League Tag Grand Final next weekend.
The Ramettes will play the winner of Tweed Heads and Ballina who contest their Elimination Final on Sunday at Ned Byrne Field in Cudgen.
The Northern United Women's Tackle side have also progressed to the Grand Final after narrowly defeating Tweed Heads 10-8.
Tries for Northern United went to Katrina Anderson and Karri Williams, with Williams' conversion being the difference between the two sides.
United will take on the winner of Bilambil and Casino in the NRRRL decider next Sunday.
