Rainfall uncertain due to low pressure system forming of the coast

As reported on Tuesday in the Lismore App, the Bureau of Meteorology is reporting rain on Friday and at this stage, a wet Saturday. However, there is still a level of uncertainty with the weather system so the true rainfall totals for Saturday won't be known until later today.

Olenka from the Bureau of Meteorology reaffirmed the rainband that is moving across western NSW and Queensland is responsible for today's rain expected this afternoon.

The rainband will move offshore on Friday night forming a new low-pressure system. The uncertainty on rainfall totals surrounds what this new low-pressure system will do.

The forecast, at this stage, is for 10 to 20mm to fall in Lismore on Friday and for a further 30 to 40mm to fall on Saturday with strong winds, large waves and damaging surf.

The rain will ease to showers on Sunday with 2 to 8mm expected then a lingering shower or two Monday and Tuesday 0-2mm.

The uncertainty for the weather forecast all depends on the formation and proximity of the offshore weather system.

What isn't uncertain is the maximum temperatures will drop to 17 degrees for Saturday, 18 on Sunday then 19 early next week.

We will have to wait and see as the picture becomes clearer late tonight.
