Marist Brothers will be looking for quick wickets against Cudgen on Day 2 of their match at Mortimer Oval.

Captain Brendan Mitchell will be the key as Brothers have very little room to work with in the first innings.

Brothers will need to put pressure on Cudgen early, with the visitors needing just 48 runs for first innings points.

The Brothers batting lineup got a number of starts last week but no single batsman was able to post a solid total.

Unfortunately, they were bowled out for 142 in the 49th over, allowing Cudgen to face 21 overs in the afternoon, reaching 2/95 after captain Mitchell took both wickets, finishing the day with 2/30 off 7 overs.

Marist Brothers may also look to score quickly in the second innings and post a total and try for an outright victory over last season's champions.

With big hitting Kevin Warid at the top of the order and Pat Martin and Daniel Hamshaw returning after missing last week, they have the firepower to make this an option.

Mitchell will need wicket taking support from Owen Bensley, Hamish Weekes and spinner Tom Parsons if they are challenge Cudgen.

The match commences at 1:00pm.
