Kristen and David Forsyth have witnessed significant changes at her Lismore Square Newsagency since they sold the winning Lotto ticket announced on January 8 where a local man won $1.4 million.

That win, coupled with unprecedented Powerball jackpots has meant a great vibe in their shop as the amount of people looking to try and win their fortune increases noticeably.

"This week's Powerball draw on Thursday is worth $200 million," Kristen told the Lismore App, "This is a record-breaking amount in Australia.

"As soon as a lottery jackpots we notice business is busier than usual but most leave it until the last minute with double queues out the door on the day of the draw"

"We've also noticed more people are opting for syndicates as the bigger the pool the greater the share."

"It has been fun talking to people about their plans if they were lucky enough to win," Kristen added, "It adds excitement to the atmosphere in the shop."

Half of the Australian adult population is expected to buy a ticket this week and while we all hold hope of matching the 7 numbers plus the Powerball, the odds are really not in our favour at 1 in 134,390,400.
