Live Traffic has Ballina Bridge open to traffic

Lismore residents heading to Ballina tonight or Ballina residents heading home should be aware a power pole has fallen directly onto Ballina Bridge on River Street, closing the bridge to traffic in both directions.

Live Traffic says the incident occurred at 4:36pm and motorists should avoid the area or use an alternative route.

Essential Energy is on-site to fix the problem, but there is no estimated time when traffic will flow again.

The fallen power pole has caused a power outage to 54 homes south of the Ballina Bridge.

There are reports the pole fell onto a car, with no major injuries to the driver.
