Police Update: investigations continue in suspected drowning at West Ballina

Police investigations are continuing in the suspected drowning of a man in West Ballina on Saturday.



About 9.30am on Saturday (22 October 2022), a member of the public located the body of a man on the bank of the Emigrant Creek, near Smith Drive, West Ballina.


A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances of the incident was commenced by Detectives from Richmond Police District.


Whilst the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of a 21-year-old man.


The death of the man is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
