Police officer injured during incident at Goonellabah

A police officer has been injured following an incident at Goonellabah early this morning.


About 1:30am today (Monday, 15 July 2024), police attended a home on Shearman Drive, Goonellabah, after receiving information a man wanted on an outstanding warrant was there.



A 28-year-old man allegedly attempted to evade police by gaining access to the roof, before falling from a gutter.


He was arrested and taken to Lismore Police Station where he was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Lismore Base Hospital with a suspected broken leg.


He remains in hospital under police guard.



While attempting to gain entry to the property, a male officer suffered a laceration to his right arm.


He was taken to Lismore Base Hospital, where he is expected to undergo surgery.


A 19-year-old woman who was at the property was also arrested on outstanding warrants.



She was refused bail to appear before Lismore Local Court today (Monday, 15 July 2024).
