Police dog tracks Casino man wanted for outstanding Domestic Violence Offences

A 30-year-old Casino man has been arrested on outstanding domestic violence offences.

About 2.40pm yesterday (Sunday, 5 May), Police received information that a male currently wanted by Police for outstanding Domestic Violence Offences was at an address in North Casino.

On attendance of Police at the address the male has successfully eluded Police by fleeing through the rear of the property and jumping several fences.

A Police dog unit attended the location, and a track was commenced.

The Police dog successfully tracked the suspect to a nearby residence where the male was in the ceiling attempting to hide himself under the ceiling insulation. Negotiations to have the male voluntarily come out of the hiding place and surrender were not successful, and to effect the arrest safely Police had to utilise Officers from the Police rescue squad.

The male, upon removal from the house ceiling, was taken to Lismore Police Station and charged with the outstanding Domestic Violence matters as well as Assault Police and Resist Police x 4.

The male was refused bail to appear before the Local Court today (6 May 2024).
