Police are appealing for assistance to locate a man wanted on two outstanding warrants in the state's north.

Ochre Wood, aged 23, is wanted on outstanding warrants for assault and traffic offences.

Officers attached to Richmond Police District have released an image of Ochre as inquiries continue to locate him.

Ochre is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 170-180cm tall, of thin build, with black hair and brown eyes. He has tattoos on his neck and chest.

He is known to frequent the Ballina, Empire Vale and Wardell areas.

Anyone who sees Ochre is urged not to approach him, but to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
