Police appeal for help after man assaulted in Byron Bay

Police are appealing for public assistance after a serious assault at a licensed premises in Byron Bay earlier this month.



About 11pm on Friday 3 June 2022, a man was punched in the face by another man while on the dance floor of a licensed premises on Jonson Street.


The 23-year-old man suffered serious facial injuries and was treated at the scene before he was taken to Byron Bay hospital in a stable condition.


The second man left the scene with a woman.


Officers attached to Tweed-Byron Police District were notified and commenced investigation into the incident.


As inquiries continue, police have released images of a man and woman who they believe may be able to assist with the investigation.



The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his 50s, of large build, with short hair. He is depicted wearing a black T-shirt, jeans and dark sneakers.


The woman is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in her 50s, of medium build, with shoulder-length blonde hair. She is depicted wearing glasses, a patterned shirt and jeans.
