The Wollongbar/Alstonville Pioneers have piled on the points against the Ballina Seahorses in Far North Coast Rugby Union.

With Lismore and Casino playing their clash on Thursday night due to the Beef Week celebrations across the weekend, focus shifted to the two remaining games in First Grade on Saturday.

It was the Pioneers who took the initiative early and dominated the Ballina side from the outset, taking a comfortable 22-7 lead into halftime.

Matt Nean scored a hat trick, and Sam Kerry added two tries and three conversions in his 16 point tally for the Wollongbar side to run out comfortable 56-7 victors.

Byron Shire continued to lead the competition with a hard fought 25-16 win over Casuarina.

Next week Lismore hosts the Pioneers in First and Reserve Grade at Lismore Rugby Park.
