The CBD has gained another new business with Pink Ivy Beauty Boutique recently opening in an upstairs space at 180 Molesworth Street (the heritage building with the big columns).
The premises is beautifully renovated and fitted out by owner Susan Magee and her husband, with an expansion into the adjoining room also underway, with another senior therapist joining the team in two weeks' time.
Susan was previously working for another beauty boutique in the area, but made the decision to step out on her own, and was operating Pink Ivy within a month of leaving her previous position.
“When you're working for someone else, it can be hard to grow professionally in the way you want to advance your career because you're restricted by what their services are and the products that they're using. So that was the main reason why I decided to come out on my own.”
Pink Ivy offers waxing, tinting, lash extensions and laminations, manicures, pedicures and facials. Susan uses Dermalogica facials and Pure Fiji body treatments such as wraps, scrubs and massages. Susan is passionate about the products she uses, and about giving each customer that walks through her door a customised experience.
“In starting up my own business I wanted to make it personal. I didn't want clients coming in and feeling that they weren't the sole focus of my attention. I want to be able to give that personal touch to every treatment. Every treatment is customisable. There's no ‘set’ treatment. If you come in for something that you kind of want to tweak, that’s what we do.”
Susan initially completed her beauty training in Ireland, her country of origin, and had a small mobile business for six years before moving to Australia with her husband and starting a family. She constantly updates her skills and has been undertaking a lot of new training recently in skincare, learning how to both treat and educate people around their unique skin types.
“That's that's my passion, skincare treatments like specialised facials for people that have acne, skin conditions or sensitive skin. I’m really trying to educate clients best on how to look after their skin. That's my big thing. It can be very hard to treat a client's skin if you don't educate them on what is causing the problem that they're having. So, I placed a lot of emphasis on teaching my clients what they're doing, but also why they're doing it.”
Pink Ivy already has a steady and growing stream of clients coming through the doors, and seeing the beautiful space and Susan’s passion for what she does and her focus on the individual, one can see why.
Bookings are able to be made through Pink Ivy’s website (https://pinkivybeautyboutique.com.au), which Susan says a lot of people have reported is very easy to navigate and use.
The book are filling up fast for Christmas with the two weeks prior almost fully booked, so if you’re looking for a treatment and some pampering over the next month, jump on over to Pink Ivy Beauty Boutique and nab your spot.
