The price of petrol has been an added challenge to those in Lismore recovering from the impacts of the devastating floods earlier this year.
The Lismore Square petrol station, formerly known as Woolworths Petrol, has re-opened under its new branding yesterday, and has an offer to alleviate the pressures at the pump for the Lismore community and those travelling through.
Now known as “Lismore EG” the petrol station boasts a complete refurbishment with what Joel Matthews, Lismore EG Site Opening Coordinator says "is a completely new fit out and station, with all electronic devices brand new, the store fit out and products are new and improved, even the air compressor is new".
"We went completely under, so everything needed to be replaced, which meant we transitioned to the new EG Store sooner than the expected rollout, which is great for Lismore customers, as we can offer them the perks of that, such as cheaper petrol and new services and products."
"As a way to celebrate our opening we are offering customers the potential to save up to 14c per litre on their petrol during the month of October, with some savings, such as the Woolworths Rewards Card and Origin Customer Card savings that will be honoured, ongoing.
"There has also been an additional change which is the offer of a 91 Unleaded, which Joel says “gives more choice to those who don’t want to choose E10, but still want to save money," Joel said.
Staff members told The Lismore App that since the petrol station opened its doors there had been a lot of excitement and positivity from customers relieved to see their local servo back up and running.
What about the tanks? Joel told The Lismore App that they had been completely cleaned out, and checked over, then certified and fresh petrol delivered to fill them on Tuesday.
The same can be said for the new air compressor and all machines on site.
Another exciting offer is that any purchase, from a lollipop to a refuel, is eligible for a free coffee from the stores brand new coffee machine.
Customers wishing to grab themselves a quick, convenient, hot meal, can also do so, with their new range of “heat and go” meals.
The staff of 4 plus 2 managers who travelled from Coffs and Nambucca spent 5 days refitting the shop to bursting with local supplies and goods for convenience.
With petrol prices in Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane all well below what is being charged at the pump here in the Northern Rivers, it’s good to see some reprieve.
