Pedestrian hit by vehicle at The Channon

About 3:20pm on Saturday (19 April 2025), emergency services responded to reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle along The Channon Road, The Channon.

 

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 46-year-old man before he was airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.


 

Officers from Richmond Police District were informed that the man was lying in the driveway of Coronation Park when he was allegedly struck by a vehicle that failed to stop and drove from the scene.

 

A crime scene was established that was examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.

 


Later that evening, officers attended a home on Rose Road, Tuntable Creek, where a 69-year-old man was arrested and taken to Lismore Police Station.

 

A vehicle was also seized from the location for forensic examination.

 

The man was charged with four offences, including:

  • Fail to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing grievous bodily harm
  • Negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm)
  • Negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm)
  • Not give particulars to injured person

 


He was granted conditional bail to appear at Lismore Local Court on Wednesday, 4 June 2025.
