A woman has died after being hit by a car in the state’s north earlier this week.

About 1pm on Friday (31 October 2025), emergency services were called to a home on Dry Dock Road, Tweed Heads, following reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a car.

Officers attached to Tweed/Byron Police District attended to find a Mazda sedan had collided with an elderly woman, causing her to fall onto the road.

The woman, aged 76, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for serious head injuries before being taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver – a 67-year-old woman – was taken to Tweed Valley Hospital for mandatory testing.

Police have since been told the 76-year-old died yesterday (Saturday, 1 November 2025).

Officers have commenced an investigation into the incident, and a report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
