Patston impresses for Broncos in Pre Season

Ex Marist Brothers forward Josh Patston has impressed in his debut for the Brisbane Broncos.

Patston was named on the bench for the final NRL Pre Season Trial against Manly at Brookvale Oval in Sydney last weekend.

He came off the bench and played quality minutes for the side in their 40-14 victory over the home side.

Patston scored a try in the 74th minute, going down the short side 15 metres out, receiving a short ball from impressive Broncos five-eighth Josh Rogers.

The match was a follow up to being named as a squad reserve in the 46-20 over the Cowboys in Round 1 of the NRL Pre Season competition.

Patston made his debut in the Queensland Cup for the Tweed Heads Seagulls, playing 21 matches for the club in 2021 and 2022.

In 2023 he settled at the Burleigh Bears and impressed, scoring 7 tries in 12 matches for the club.

It was this effort in the 2023 season that earned Josh a call up to the Broncos preseason squad.

Although not a contracted member of the Broncos 30 man squad, Josh is pushing hard to impress in the Queensland Cup and make the most of every opportunity that is given.

The hard running backrower was a constant try scoring threat in his time in First Grade for Marist Brothers, averaging more than a try a game for the Brethren.

The Queensland Cup competition will commence next weekend with the Burleigh Bears hosting the North Devils next Saturday.

In NRRRL action, the Northern Rivers Titans representative teams travel to Sawtell and Port Macquarie on Saturday to contest the next round of their respective competitions.
