With Far North Coast Softball returning to the diamonds next Saturday after their season being cut short earlier this year, it’s been Lachlan O’Sullivan who has been flying the flag for the local Association.
15-year-old O'Sullivan, after years of training and travelling back and forth to Sydney, has finally reaped the benefits after being named in the SNSW Under 16 State Boys team.
O'Sullivan, a member of the Rous Hotel Softball Club, has been playing the sport for a number of years.
Coming from a Baseball background and with a last name synonymous in the Baseball community, Lachlan starting playing softball with his mother Aurora as a ten year old in the young Rous Rascals side.
From here, he developed a love for the sport and was quickly identified as a talent to watch.
Known for his quickness around the bases, consistent batting and fielding skills - especially in the outfield, it was due to his own dedication that he made the development squad last year.
Although disappointed when he didn't make the team, he continued to train hard and with the help of local coach Karina Connors in between training camps in Sydney, saw O'Sullivan advance to the next level and a spot in the State team.
