It was just one single point that was the difference between agony and ecstasy for Lismore Rugby on Saturday.
Lismore hosted Lennox Head in a match where a victory for Lismore would see them climb off the bottom of the ladder.
The match was played in wet and muddy conditions, but Lismore had the upper hand early, crossing for three tries in the first half.
Tries to Sam Gillett, Cody Johnston and Mitchell Cox had the Greens leading 19-12 at the break.
In a tight second half, Lennox were able to add a try and penalty goal to clinch the narrow victory 20-19.
It was an agonising finish for Lismore, falling just one point short of a draw and two points off their first victory of the season.
Reserve Grade were able to reverse the result, earning their first win of the season, edging out the Trojans 21-12.
The U/18 Colts opened the day with a solid and important win, 26-22, with both teams fighting it out for fourth spot on the ladder and a semifinal place up for grabs.
In a fun event for the club, the Women's side took on the Golden Oldies in an exhibition match after the SCU Lady Rats forfeited.
The match saw the unique opportunity of several fathers being able to play against their daughters, with four dads taking the field against the younger opponents.
Lismore will take on Casino next weekend at home in a catch-up match from earlier in the season.
