One pharmacy set to re-open tomorrow in South Lismore

The flood clean-up has been intense, but tomorrow, Lismore’s first pharmacy is set to reopen in South Lismore, on Casino Street.

Formerly known as the Southside Pharmacy, the Southside Chempro will open its doors at 8.30am Thursday morning (March 10).

The pharmacy’s new owner is pharmacist Kyle Wood. He bought the business last August and has relocated the shop to just behind the old pharmacy location on the corner of Union Street and Casino Street.

It’s now situated in what used to be the health and hire centre – two doors down.

“We’ve been working 20 hours a day for the last week to clean out the building and rebuild the store with all new equipment,” Kyle said.

“There are no pharmacies open in town yet and people can’t get medication.

“The old pharmacy was destroyed in the flood, so we decided to open in this building, which is already part of our business.”

Despite the lack of electricity in South Lismore still, Kyle said the pharmacy has a generator set up to power the shop and the new refrigerators.

The pharmacy will be open 8.30am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday. Kyle said if there is community need, he will also open on Sunday.
