There has been a house fire at Belvedere Drive, East Lismore, early this morning, with one person still unaccounted for.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW said the fire started at 5:47 this morning when they received about twenty 000 calls.
"When firefighters arrived, they were confronted with significant fire activity. There is one person unaccounted for. They are still unaccounted for. We've got five fire trucks on scene, that's about 20 firefighters. We have had a significant structural collapse, which is impeding our ability to get complete extinguishment and conduct a thorough search.
"Operations will continue. We will work with New South Wales Police in determining where this person that's unaccounted for is. They'll do the outside inquiries and Fire and Rescue. New South Wales will get in and continue a search, but due to the structural integrity, we are having difficulties getting complete extinguishment and completing that search."
More to come.
