An estimated crowd of over 8000 people poured into a muddy but rocking Lismore Showground yesterday for the One From The Heart concert yesterday.

Apart from a short period of showers, the weather was kind as Lismore was treated to a phenomenal line-up of musical talent that catered for all ages and all genres.

The Buckley's, Darlinghurst, Daryl Braithwaite, Jon Stevens, Sheppard, Paul and Dan Kelly, Lime Cordiale and Grinspoon all put on a show to really lift the spirits of Lismore and Northern Rivers residents.

As Jon Stevens said, "Music makes the world go round, it puts you in a happy place." and that it did as the crowd sang loud and proud to 70's classic Howzat, Horses was an obvious winner with Mayor Steve Krieg on backing vocals, Jon Stevens pounding out the big Noiseworks hits as well as some INXS staples.

Sheppard had the crowd singing to Let Me Down Easy as the sun went down and finished strongly with their smash hit Gironomo while Paul and Dan Kelly had a more intimate feel with an acoustic set of Paul's long repertoire including his soon to be released song called Northern Rivers.

Lime Cordiale and Grinspoon rocked the showground to the end of the night.

The muddy entrance to the moshpit wasn't in good shape early in the afternoon but as you would expect the more foot traffic the worse it became. Not that it stopped anyone from having a great time. The famous mudslide was in action too.

It is back to our reality today, however, it was nice to forget about floods and the long journey ahead of us, even if it was for eight hours.

The last word to Mayor Steve Krieg:

"A fantastic community day, and an opportunity to come together and enjoy each other's company. It was also a chance to thank the ADF, with Brigadier Rob Lording in attendance."

"Special thanks to Michael Chugg, Mark Pope and Rick Sleeman for bringing it all together. The LCC council staff who worked tirelessly in the lead-up, and on the day. And a special thanks to the musicians who gave so freely of their time and talent."

"Finally to the people of Lismore, who did themselves proud in their enthusiasm for the event. I, like everyone who attended, will long remember 'One from the Heart'."

Just an FYI for Lismore City Council from a passerby as they were leaving the showground, "They should have the firies here hosing us down as we leave." Maybe next time. Insert smile emoji.
