The NSW Reconstruction Authority started door-knocking homes that had registered for the Resilient Homes program yesterday.
A spokesperson for the NSW Reconstruction Authority said the NSW Reconstruction Authority visited 150 homes in South Lismore and 120 homes in North Lismore to discuss flood recovery and NSW Government support services available to residents.
"Staff will assist residents with grant funding applications if needed as well as checking on the condition of their homes. This is part of our commitment to helping communities recover and rebuild. Information from the outreach will help inform future recovery and reconstruction needs for the area."
"The door-to-door outreach is in addition to the pop-up information offices operating across the seven Local Government Areas of the Northern Rivers and the fortnightly Community Leaders Forum, including local mayors and MPs sharing important news and information to the community via the NSWRA website."
Yesterday's outreach door-knock included Member for Lismore Janelle Saffin and Mayor Steve Krieg.
Ms Saffin told the Lismore App the outreach was a success, and this was the first step to visit every registered household.
"People were very pleased to see us yesterday. The response was really positive. The Reconstruction Authority will get around to every registered home to make sure people understand what options are available to them and to see if they need any help."
When asked about the timing of the door-knock 18 months after the big flood, Ms Saffin said, "It's better late than never. This is part of the NSW Government re-set and is an improvement on the existing program."
