Trinity Catholic College student and Goonellabah resident, Jackson Ware, has been selected in the NSW Country U/18 Men's Basketball Team.

Sixteen year old Ware impressed Basketball NSW coaches and selectors at the recent NSW Camp in Maitland and was selected as a part of the 10 man side.

The team will travel to Werribee in April to contest the Australian titles.

The Championships attract the best players from around the country and will see scouts from a number of Australian and International organisations looking for the "Next Big Thing".

Ware has tasted the top level previously, being selected in the NSW Country U/16 team in 2019 and traveling to Darwin for the National Championships

Ware who stands at 204cm will play in the power forward and centre position for a team full of talent, athleticism and speed.

"I am really happy with the selection. I have been training hard and to be joined by fellow team mates, makes it all that more special." Ware said.

Jackson is currently a part of the Basketball NSW High Performance Program, training several times per week in addition to his team training.

Regional Basketball NSW High Performance Coach Alvin Caoyonan has been impressed with Ware's work ethic.

"Jackson has been working hard for a number of years and thoroughly deserves this accolade. It is not only a huge reward for Jackson's talent and dedication but also the commitment the family makes to the sport."

"Basketball is sport that involves a huge amount of travel and cost from regional areas. The sacrifices that athletes and families make is a credit to themselves and the sport."

In an impressive statistic for the North Coast, Ware was joined by fellow Byron Bay Beez teammates Harley Kent and Billy Rigby in the final team, with the club possessing the most players from any NSW Association.

Representative teams are usually dominated by Newcastle and Illawarra athletes, but the the region is well represented.

Fellow Trinity student and Byron team mate Toby Barlow made the initial 20 man squad, but missed out on selection. Toby is a bottom age athlete who will also get another opportunity in 2022.
