NR's Salvos bring The Wiggles to Lismore!

The Northern Rivers Salvos have been supporting the Lismore community post-flood in many ways, including serving hot meals to evacuees and the South Lismore BBQ Day in August.

Now, they have moved into high gear by bringing The Wiggles to town for one day only on Friday, November 18 for two special Christmas concerts!

After a devastating year for residents of the Northern Rivers region, The Salvos are gearing up for one of their busiest Christmas’ yet, looking to provide hope and support to those in need.

“The Salvos have been right here in Lismore for over 130 years. When the floods hit earlier this year, and even a few weeks ago, we were there supporting evacuees and first responders with tens of thousands of meals."

"We will also be here for the long haul, supporting the community as they rebuild, which means that Christmas this year will be more important than ever,” said Captain Phil Sutcliffe, The Salvation Army Corps Officer Northern Rivers.

“We are so excited to be kicking off our Christmas activities with a special partnership with The Wiggles, putting on a community concert that will spread some much-needed hope and joy. We encourage the community to register for a ticket, as well as reach out to The Salvos this year if you need a hand at Christmas. We are here for you.”

The Wiggles will be in Lismore for one day only, performing two shows on the afternoon of Friday 18th November at Goonellabah Sports and Aquatic Centre basketball stadium. There will be a 2.30pm and a 5.00pm session.

Blue Wiggle, Anthony Field said, “We were all devastated to see the challenges everyone in Lismore has been experiencing due to the recent flooding and wanted to do something to help lift people’s spirits. We’re proud to partner with the Salvos to bring some fun and entertainment back to the Northern Rivers, and we can’t wait to see everyone soon.”

Tickets to this special event are free, however, spaces are limited.

"It is first in best dressed," Captain (Capt) Sutcliffe said so sit by your computers on Thursday morning if you want the chance to get tickets."

The Wiggles are on their Holiday Party Big Show tour and are performing in Newcastle on Wednesday night before travelling to Lismore and then making their way to Rockhampton.

"Lismore City Council is donating the venue and has been extremely helpful in getting this event to town so a big thank you to the staff," Capt Sutcliffe said.

Each session has a 500-person capacity, meaning that community members need to register to attend.

Parking is going to be an issue for 500 people around GSAC so you will be encouraged to park in the Salvos car park behind the Goonellabah Library which can fit 50-60 cars, in the Council car park or on the street and make the short walk to GSAC.

During the Christmas period last year, thanks to the generosity of the Australian public, The Salvation Army nationally distributed:

●     over 64,000 hampers and vouchers to those struggling to make ends meet,

●     over 26,000 gifts and toys to families who might otherwise have gone without,

●     over 130,000 meals and provided more than 66,000 beds for over 10,000 families in need of accommodation during the festive season.

Registrations for tickets will open on Thursday 10th November at 8:30am. To register, visit https://www.trybooking.com/events.

Good luck!
