The Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League (NRRRL) has decided to restart the 2020 competition with two groups of clubs playing eight rounds.
There is a 'Green Competition and a 'Gold Competition' with five clubs in each competition.
Cudgen Hornets, Byron Bay Red Devils, Murwillumbah Mustangs, Tweed Coast Raiders and Bilambil Jets will play in 'Green Competition'.
Marist Brothers Rams, Northern United Dirrawongs, Ballina Seagulls, Mullumbimby Giants and Casino RSM Cougars play in 'Gold' Competition.
NRRRL President Mark Harrison said the decision had been made due to the Queensland Government's current New South Wales border restrictions. Players from clubs like Murwillumbah Mustangs, Byron Bay Red Devils, Bilambil Jets and Tweed Coast Raiders are not able to travel as their players need to cross the border for work. If they leave the Queensland Government identified bubble they will not be able to work.
"We are just trying to ensure the clubs play and we do not know what the finals series will be. We are not even sure if we are going to finish the competition but we are trying to get the players on the park," he said.
Marist Brothers coach Mark Sivewright confirmed that the Rams were heading to Casino to play the Cougars on Queen Elizabeth Park on Sunday afternoon.
"Hopefully the conditions are better then Round 1 so we can play some entertaining footy," said Sivewright.
Marist Brothers came from behind to beat Casino Cougars in Round 1.
