NRRC opens Homeowner Pop-up office in the CBD The new NRRC Homeowner Pop-up office in Carrington Street

Communication with the NRRC just got a lot easier for homeowners of flood-affected properties as it announced its Homeowner Pop-up office at 14 Carrington Street in the Lismore CBD, just down from Cafe Cappello.

A lot of people would know the location already, it was recently used by Member for Lismore Janelle Saffin and before that as the early voting centre for the last Federal elections.

Lismore offers both drop-in days and by-appointment days with the schedule outlined below.

Other locations throughout the Northern Rivers have been announced.

From next week in Murwillumbah at Murwillumbah 2484 at 41-45 Murwillumbah Street offering a mix of drop-in and ‘by-appointment’ sessions.

Weekly ‘by appointment’ sessions will be held in Mullumbimby at Byron Shire Council offices and in Ballina at Service NSW, Ballina Homemaker Centre, 26 Boeing Avenue.

‘By appointment’ sessions can be booked with case managers or via the Resilient Homes Program info hub: tel:1800 844 085 or email: resilienthomesprogram@nrrc.nsw.gov.au.

Information about homeowner pop-ups will be shared via the NRRC website and social media channels over the coming weeks.

The NRRC also announced its latest dashboard figures, with 296 buyback offers approved and 131 of those accepted.

Initial assessments have now been carried out for 1,213 registered homeowners, 364 valuations undertaken and 4 settlements complete.

Buybacks are being prioritised in some of the hardest flood-hit areas, where homes are exposed, under most flood scenarios, to floodwaters that are both high and fast.

On Friday 2 June 2023 the NRRC released the Draft Resilient Lands Strategy, under the $100 million Resilient Land Program.

The Draft Strategy sets out the next steps to identify a sustainable pipeline of land and housing to support the relocation of residents impacted by the 2022 floods. 22 sites have been shortlisted for housing, with the first sites expected in early 2024.
