Northern United progress in Trophy Series

Northern United have progressed to week 2 of the NRRRL Trophy Series with a 22-14 win over the Tweed Coast Raiders in Goonellabah on Saturday.

Dirawongs Centre Tim Torrens scored twice for the home side to help them to the narrow 8 point win.

Fullback Eddie Walker-Williams scored a try and was able to convert just one of the tries in tough conditions.

Northern United will now take on Marist Brothers in the Preliminary Final of the competition next weekend, with the Rams have the weekend off.

In the other First Grade match in the Trophy series, Mullumbimby defeated Kyogle 21-20.

In Ladies League Tag, both Northern United and Marist Brothers Ramettes will take to the field on Sunday in the first Round of the major competition.

The Marist Brothers Reserve Grade side will also take to the field on Sunday, up against the Cudgen Hornets.
