Image: Northern Rivers Youth Jazz OrchestraThe Northern Rivers Conservatorium (NRC) will host its first-ever Jazz in the Quad event Friday, 12 December, bringing together live music, an artisan market and family-friendly summer vibes in the heart of Lismore’s cultural precinct.
The evening will feature performances from emerging artist Angus Joyce at 6pm, followed by the Northern Rivers Youth Jazz Orchestra (YJO) at 6:45pm.
Conducted by Nic Campbell, YJO showcases some of the region’s most talented young musicians and has become a cornerstone of youth jazz in the Northern Rivers.
NRC From 4:30pm, audiences can explore the NRC’s curated Artisan Christmas Market, featuring 11 local stallholders offering ceramics, jewellery, clothing, art, photography, upcycled fashion, ornaments and handmade gifts. Food options include a Vietnamese food van and snow cones.
Everyone is encouraged to bring picnic rugs or chairs and enjoy a relaxed summer atmosphere, and access to nearby CBD eateries.
Director Anita Bellman said, “The event is an opportunity to celebrate creativity and connection at the end of the year. Jazz in the Quad brings together everything we value at the Con — music, learning, collaboration and community. It’s a wonderful way for families and friends to gather, support our young musicians, and enjoy an evening of high-quality performance. This event really is for the whole community.”
