The Nimbin Pool will remain closed during the September school holidays, which begin next week.
Council must have people on site at the free pool to monitor COVID-19 safety measures during opening hours, which is cost prohibitive for Council.
Council is currently working with the Nimbin community and Friends of Nimbin Pool to establish a volunteer roster and provide training so the pool can open with the help of community volunteers.
“We need to work through some complex logistics and unfortunately we will not have this complete in time to open for the September school holidays,” Council’s Assets Manager Scott Turner said.
“While we understand this is disappointing for the community, it is essential that we follow the COVID-19 Public Health Orders set down by the NSW Government and find a solution that we can implement permanently over the summer months.”
Council will provide a further update about the Nimbin Pool in early October.
Anyone interested in signing up to volunteer should email Friends of Nimbin Pool at [email protected].
